Viable candidate? I’d like to know what you think. He’s raised a bunch of money all of a sudden...

He's a furry so...

The Texans I know are pretty fanatical about him, but they also think brisket is the best form of BBQ, so I can’t take them seriously.
The level of sh*t he has gotten for a casual “my wife raises the kids and I suck” comment is proof that nobody rational ever strives to get into politics, and then I get sad. The fact that we’ll tear people down (or dissect their psyche) over this stuff is disheartening.
That’s all I got.

I liked him as an alternative to Cruz; come on who wouldn’t? But I’m not sure about his presidential run. He actually could do really well with the middle ground people who just seem to vote based on how the wind is blowing.
I do wish Biden and Warren would step aside.
I do know that Buttigieg has had some good talking points so far.
I’m open to another sanders run.

Meh. He’s more stable than Alpha O’rour ke but I’ll skip the Beto and wait for the launch edition. I probably won’t pre-order either.

He should run as a Republican

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Beto has too much baggage and no chance against Trump.
The Democrats should narrow the field down to John Delaney, Kamala Harris, and Andrew Yang. Everyone else duplicates one of them or has too much baggage. Or both.
Bernie was good last time, but it’s time for someone else this time.
Also, Bill Weld is awesome, and I hope he wins the Republican primary

Can’t be any worse than the other 50 or so weirdos running as a Dem. At this rate we’re going to need a football stadium for the debates...just to house all the candidates!
![]() 03/19/2019 at 14:01 |

Delaney also has a good middle ground and is more electable than Beto.

Agreed on Beto and Bernie. The sooner he steps down, the sooner his rabid supporters will stop burning down their own house. We don’t need an 80+ y/o president no matter how woke he may be. Personally I like Warren – agreed that her positions do seem very similar to Sanders but she actually has the depth to think through policy and explain it to people. I think the Pocohantas thing is typical Trumped up BS – just look at the guy spouting it, and the amount of actual baggage he gets a pass on…meanwhile THIS is what disqualifies her???
Not a huge fan of Harris from her days in SF – she’s known to be a ruthless hawk. She’s definitely competent, but just personally not someone I can get behind with enthusiasm. Delaney and Buttigieg would both add a lot of value to the process and I hope they get far. Between either of them or Warren I’d be happy for having a level headed rational human getting the nomination.
Same goes for Bill Weld – he’s a class act, which I love but will probably also be the reason he gets absolutely nowhere against Trump. The only issue I have with him is that we wouldn’t quite be in this mess if he and Aleppo Johnson hadn’t been part of the 3 rd party mess in 2016. I know that most people who voted for them were probably Republicans, but I’d rather force them to vote for one of the two candidates they, you, and I all knew were going to win instead of getting a pass by claiming moral superiority. I think even Weld saw this towards the end with his glowing words about HRC, but was too little too late.

The Pocahontas thing is definitely
trumped-up shit, I agree, but Warren
gave into it and took the DN
A test and
shit. She is feeding the troll.
And no, that’s not her main disqualification, but rather, she is too close to Bernie, and they’re cannibalizing each other. At the very minimum, one should get behind the other. If Bernie dropped out and supported Warren, that would be ok since most Bernie supporters do like her, too. But we can’t have both.
If Johnson/Weld wasn’t on the ballot, and most of their voters voted for Trump, then Trump would’ve won more bigly and would’ve actually won the popular vote.

The ultimate in white privilege... A pasty white Irishman who’s L atino nickname (bestowed by a politically savvy father for the exact purpose of smoothing the way to a political career in Texas) somehow gets him street cred with his party over an actual L atino community leader. Laughable.

You may very well be right about Johnson/Weld, but I’d rather have forced those peoples’ hands and make them do that, instead of them all getting to perform the mental gymnastics today to claim that they had nothing to do with Trump winning or that they actually prefer his policy agenda that we’ve been living with since his election.

Excuse me, but didn’t this guy LOSE in his run for office? To Ted Cruz, no less! Where does he get off thinking he’s a viable candidate for President of the United States?

There are some who argue that Beto scares the Progs precisely because he is more centrist and might win some votes. Right now, it’s advantage: Trump.

Yeah. I think we should steel ourselves for four more years of Donald Trump.
![]() 03/19/2019 at 16:09 |

I don’t think Betos policies put him all that in the middle; I think his general charisma and speaking would get some middle ground people on the train. The type of people who went from sanders to trump because they both feverishly talk about something appealing; even if the two things aren’t that in accord.
![]() 03/19/2019 at 16:11 |
|
I too think sanders is too old but I also feel like his last shot was not what it could have been.
Buttigieg is not so much in the middle but is doing amazing at talking to people on the right and the middle. That’s what I like about him.

over an actual Latino community leader.
Whom do you refer to here?
The fact that the Progressive Thought Police are after him for attempting to give his wife — and the mother of his children — props will help him with the Center, I predict.
I don’t like Trump. At all. But I don’t see any Democrats who can beat him. This guy could be a wild card. The Progressive Establishment clearly fear and resent him.

I think that says less about Beto’s weakness than it does about Cruz’s strength in Texas. But I could be wrong.

Madame DeLorean and I feel about the same. Like, there are people we’d much rather see as President, but we have a deep down feeling that the Dem nominee will almost certainly be someone Trump will hand a smackdown to.

So far we’ve got that he fled the scene of a DUI, and was in a computer hacking cult.
Doubtful that he makes it very far in the primaries. I’m rooting for the Ds to nominate a poor candidate strictly because they are a non-white non-guy , then Starbucks guy to split the D vote, thus giving Trump an easy victory.
This election will be more of a shit show than the last one.

Trump is adroit at smacking people down. That’s one thing he’s good at. And cheating people. And bullying people.
But Meghan McCain got a rise out of him:

There’s nobody I see on the Democrat horiz

will not demolish. Elizabeth is a dead woman standing. Corey Booker, same. Bernie Sanders is already actually deceased but hasn’t yet noticed.
